Las vegas ~ family vacations, NBA basketball and More!

I just returned from a 2 night business trip where I was invited to attend the NBA All Star pre-game charity events in Las Vegas, Nevada which were partially sponsored by UBS. UBS, a client of Cruise Resort & World Travel, Inc., asked me to participate so I could speak to their perspective clients regarding their leisure travel plans (one benefit of being in the UBS Wealth Management Program is having access to travel concierge services which we help support).

At the Wynn and MGM Grand hotel ballrooms where these charity events were held, I was privileged to see Alonzo Mourning, Dikembe Mutombo, Magic Johnson, Barron Davis, Shaquille O’Neal, and many other NBA stars and their wives. Celebrities such as Queen Latifah, Vivica Fox and “Dr. Weber” from Gray’s Anatomy were also present in addition to many other interesting and equally successful individuals!

While enjoying these amazing charity events, I also noticed that Las Vegas is not only gambling, drinking and all- night parties; Vegas has great family entertainment!

Nonstop flights are available from most major cities which makes life easier for any family. Las Vegas also offers a range of hotels starting at $100 a night per room which could make this visit less expensive than a Caribbean trip, wonderful pools including one with a man made beach with waves and another with a flowing lazy river, and a choice of hundreds of restaurants. The water show outside the Bellagio, the Pirate Show at Treasure Island and the Car Museum at the Imperial are fun for everyone. Just a short distance outside of the city and armed with a cheap car rental, there is Red Rock Canyon and the Hoover Dam that offer respite from the traffic on the strip.

For more expense, the shows are endless as are the opportunities to enjoy the extensive spas and fitness centers. World class shopping includes major luxury dept stores and malls with a great selection of every retail establishment you can imagine. It’s great to consider for a 4 day weekend when the schools have a holiday because Las Vegas has truly turned into a family destination!
