Passport rules

It seems that the Passport requirements are changing daily! Now if you travel to on a cruise that departs and returns to the US you only need a birth certificate and a photo ID (gov’t issued) until January of 2008. Also, if you go to some Caribbean islands you need to have proof in September that you have applied for a passport since they have 3 million backed up in a queue to be processed with the Passport offices around the country.

This has been a mess as most people who have applied for one have waited longer than the initially promised times and have no idea of what the new rules are as they change daily! It is so confusing now that it is difficult to know what is the latest rule. The worst thing is to arrive at the airport for a trip and be denied boarding because you don’t have the proper identification. Call the airline that you are flying or your travel agent to make sure you have proper documentation for your trip. Kids also… never to early to get one, you don’t know when you may have to take an emergency last minute vacation!!
