I received a call this morning from someone who needed a Visa as they had planned a trip to Russia. They didn’t realize they needed a Visa and bought their trip on line for a 4 day visit to Moscow. Now, they can’t get a visa and can’t leave the airport without one! So… they purchased their trip, nonrefundable and nowhere on line was there any indication that they needed a visa to travel to that country. Unfortunately to travel to Russia and some other countries as well, you need a letter from a tour company that is recognized by their government assuring that they will take care of your tours and whereabouts when you are in that country in order to obtain a visa. Contacting the embassy of the country you want to visit to get a visa does not help unless you have a letter from a company of “introduction” as they call it. You have to produce that letter to even be considered for the visa. Then you will need at least 2 passport sized photos and a form and $$ to pay.
Please be cognizant that once again, booking online can cause more problems if you are not familiar with the requirements of the destination you wish to visit
