A year round destination in the middle of the desert, more unusual than anyone would expect with the world’s most luxurious hotels and spas and even a 32,000 sq. ft indoor ski slope, camel safaris and dune surfing. They now have 6 million tourists and are looking to double that by the 2010. The hotels there offer the most lavish spas with treatments nobody has even heard of; and still they have accommodations from $300 to upwards of $10,000 a night.
They are building the tallest hotel (and building) in the world.
Now would be a great time for a visit. I would recommend it in conjunction with a trip to the Maldives, Africa or India. Even though it is a destination unto itself, a few days would be enough and the distance would warrant another destination as well. Emirates airlines has great flights from the States but don’t expect to use miles….they partner with airlines you probably won’t have and they don’t allow use of miles for business class.
They are also working on Dubailand; a Disney like park that will probably make Disney World look like one of their dwarfs. It will have theme parks, hotels and an indoor mountain range!
Travel is the best education… don’t forget to bring the kids!
