Luxury Travel moving off the Beach

I just returned from the International Luxury Travel Market in Cannes where I met with 50 hoteliers, tour operators and tourist boards from around the world. Travellers are seeking more than just resorts by a pool or beach and different than a shopping trip to Paris(which with the poor dollar value to the Euro are becoming less popular anyway). We, who have been there done that are seeking new experiences in new destinations. We are heading East. Exploring new cultures by traveling to the Middle East and Africa, crossing the desert by camel or meeting children who need help in the poorest villages offer unique opportunities to travel consciously. Our vacations help sustain the local community and our holidays are are benefiting others as well.

I encourage people traveling to Africa or other poor nations to bring along old clothes in your suitcases to give away there. Any bedding or goods that you can add to your suitcase is a blessing in some communities. There are also volunteer programs in
many countries that you can combine with your holidays. Helping in a school or with housing is a great way to add meaning to your vacation.
