Holiday travel tips for 2008

I know most who traveled during the holidays have experienced air travel delays. This is always an issue and I experienced them as well along with hours waiting for luggage as the airport handlers were also on a holiday! For this, I think it makes sense to plan vacations including some delays. Always leave at least 2 hours to change planes domestically as well as internationally. Some international airports such as Heathrow would require a minimum of 2 1/2 hours as the security is so strict and they really do close a gate half hour before take off.

If a cruise is involved, both Caribbean and anywhere worldwide; I really recommend arriving at the embarkation port city 1 day in advance. Air travel cannot be relied upon as far as time and date and this will really eliminate any missed ships and hassles joining the ship at the next port of call (which may be 2 days if the following day is at sea).

If you book your travel online….. just a reminder….. there is nobody to advise you of these tips. Call a professional to assist you in all travel plans. If you do get stuck; your laptop will not assist you in rerouting you to your destination! Wishing you a happy, healthy and travel filled New Year.
